While We Still Have Time

In spite of the grimness of the times in which we live, there is still hope. If you feel, like I do, that the usual discourse about matters of critical concern tends to be superficial, misguided, and false, then you might find some solace and inspiration here. I will try to offer insight and a holistic perspective on events and issues, and hopefully serve as a catalyst for raising the level of dialogue on this planet.

I was born in 1945, shortly before atom bombs were dropped on Japan. I served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. I earned master's degrees in Economics and Educational Psychology, and certificates in Web Page Design and as a Teacher of English as a Second Language. I followed an Indian guru for eight years, which immersed me in meditative practices and an attitude of reaching a higher level of being. A blog post listing the meditative practices I have pursued can be seen here.

#GoneByEaster

Perhaps I was a tad optimistic about #GoneByValentinesDay. I'm still optimistic. I tend to be a cup half-full person. Drumpf is so over-the-top ridiculous that it is an easy prediction that he will depart from office long before his term is up, so spreading a little optimism may help hasten his exit.

One thing we can be thankful for is that the Winter Olympics  interrupted Drumpf's war mongering with North Korea. The propaganda value of the Olympics in defusing Drump's war momentum is immense. Olympic athletes from all over the world converged on South Korea, and they very likely were not pleased that the U.S. president has been threatening to blow the place up, causing "fire and fury the likes of which the world has never seen." Drumpf was referring to North Korea, but he would not be able to confine his imagined fire and fury to that small country.

The amazing thing to me in all this is how compliant our mainstream news media are. Except maybe CNN, or at least Jake Tapper. I suppose MSNBC couldn't be called compliant. But for the most part I find the news media engaging in stenography. Drumpf probably has them intimidated, and they are playing it safe, biding their time until the Mueller investigation makes charges against him. Most of what I watch or listen to are from PBS's NewsHour and NPR. They speculate on what Drumpf is thinking, on what he supposedly believes, what "policies" he favors, and blah, blah, blah, pretending that he is the country's legitimate leader.

He isn't. He's a criminal sociopath who is threatening nuclear war, a lifelong scam artist, a fraud and a cheat. He almost certainly colluded with agents of the Russian government to rig the 2016 election, and his cacophony of bullying denials should be proof enough to the public that he is guilty.

The tide has turned. Drumpf is through. The White House is like a sinking ship, with a pathetic captain insisting he owns the sea. Mueller is coming for him.  He will be #GoneByEaster. #YesCollusion.
