While We Still Have Time

In spite of the grimness of the times in which we live, there is still hope. If you feel, like I do, that the usual discourse about matters of critical concern tends to be superficial, misguided, and false, then you might find some solace and inspiration here. I will try to offer insight and a holistic perspective on events and issues, and hopefully serve as a catalyst for raising the level of dialogue on this planet.

Trump In Wisconsin

Donald Trump came to Wisconsin Friday to stump for his anointed candidates in the upcoming primary election. And, of course, to stump for himself. It has gone past the point of comic absurdity, and now is just boring and tiresome. His days are numbered. He looks less healthy lately, and he likely will be indicted soon by the Justice Department and the state of Georgia for his election shenanigans.

What is interesting, though, is how Trump has turned the "Republican" party on itself. If candidates for office don’t back his ongoing efforts to overturn the 2020 election he turns on them, throwing his support to a primary opponent. Robin Vos, the long-time criminal Speaker of the state Assembly, obeyed the orders from Trump to try to decertify the election, spending almost $1,000,000 of state money on a fake fraud investigation, but failed. He is now getting "primaried."

Rebecca Kleefisch, lieutenant governor under criminal former governor Scott Walker, is now running for governor herself. She was favored to win, but hasn’t shown sufficient obeisance to Trump, so he is backing an opponent, Tim Michels. Michels really hasn't shown much of anything, but now brags on his TV ads that he has been endorsed by Trump. He also claims that he is going to go after the "leftist" mobs in Madison, the state Capital. He lists his main qualification to be governor is that he "commanded" the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington when he was in the Army decades ago. Hmm. How does one command a tomb? Maybe he commanded it to stay where it is. It seems to be obeying.

It is kind of fun to watch, a formerly unified gang of criminals going after each other. Kleefisch and Michels are running attack ads against each other, making hyperbolic claims of how the other is backed by unions, supported this-or-that "liberal" policy, is "owned" by special interests, and other claptrap usually reserved for their "Democratic" opponents.

There are other races. Wisconsin’s truly odious U.S. Senator Ron Johnson is a Trump loyalist, voted to decertify the 2020 election results, and refuses to say that Joe Biden won in a free and fair election. So he gets a free pass. "Progressives" Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have endorsed Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes in the "Democratic" primary for Senate, and the national campaign committee is throwing its money his way, causing his main opponents to drop out of the race. He is not a strong candidate, and has the vulnerability of  lying about his education on his website, so odious Johnson may be reelected. Thanks for nothing, outsiders.

This is not vastly different from what is going on in other states. The "Republican” party, now a full-fledged criminal organization, remains under the spell of a deranged an malevolent sociopath, and embraces conspiracy theories, crackpot religion and climate change denial. And, of course, blaming Joe Biden for inflation.

Demagoguery works, so we will have to see what the American people, in their not-so-infinite wisdom, choose this fall. The Supreme Court’s political decision of overturn Constitutional protection for reproductive freedom has gotten people riled-up. "Republicans" have already suffered a loss in their zeal to outlaw abortion in Kansas, and are spinning wildly, trying to pretend the loss is a "victory." All losses are victories in MAGA Land. I suspect they will be celebrating many such victories in November.

Here's a song for Trump. Here's another. His theme song. He likely doesn't think this is his theme song anymore. After he loses all his property he can always live here. Substitute the name Trump in this song and you have America's theme song.

Here's an update about "Republican" criminality.

Here's an update about Trump cringing in fear. His inevitable decline has begun.
