While We Still Have Time

In spite of the grimness of the times in which we live, there is still hope. If you feel, like I do, that the usual discourse about matters of critical concern tends to be superficial, misguided, and false, then you might find some solace and inspiration here. I will try to offer insight and a holistic perspective on events and issues, and hopefully serve as a catalyst for raising the level of dialogue on this planet.

I was born in 1945, shortly before atom bombs were dropped on Japan. I served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. I earned master's degrees in Economics and Educational Psychology, and certificates in Web Page Design and as a Teacher of English as a Second Language. I followed an Indian guru for eight years, which immersed me in meditative practices and an attitude of reaching a higher level of being. A blog post listing the meditative practices I have pursued can be seen here.

Genocide Joe

Joe Biden has a new nickname: Genocide Joe. It is well-deserved. He is the enabler, facilitator and eager funder for the settler State of Israel's ongoing campaign of mass murder and terror against the citizens of Gaza. Israel of course has an excuse for its reign of terror. The October 7 attack by the Netanyahu-created insurgent group Hamas, which killed 1,200 people. So far the number of Palestinians killed is estimated at close to 18,000. And counting. Joe Biden can only lie about the totals, and about everything else related to this genocidal siege.

Biden's "National Security Spokesperson" John Kirby made a lame attempt to dismiss the use of the term genocide, convincing only himself and fellow travelers on the genocide bandwagon. Here's a definition. Secretary of State Antony Blinken self-identifies as a "Jew," and declared that as long as "America" exists, Israel will never have to defend itself alone. When Israel wages genocide, we will be there, for as long as we exist. We know how to do this.

In order to make this genocide affordable the U.S. has given Israel over $130 billion in military assistance over the past 75 years, and $33 billion in economic aid. As the recipients of genocide, 5,100,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since 1948.

This will continue. Maybe for as long as the "U.S." exists. We get to do this because we can. We have the money and we have the power. I don't think it will be forever, or even for much past this latest madness. Climate change will change everything. It is hard to predict the future. I can make one prediction, though. I won't be voting for Genocide Joe.

Here's some vintage Genocide Joe.

Here's a song. Here's another. Jimi Hendrix. The Byrds. Billy Roberts. Steve Winwood with Slash. The leavesFrank Zappa. Genocide Joe should have stayed in the garage. If you can stand it, look at killer Joe.

Whether by diselection or retirement, it will be goodbye Genocide Joe in 2024. One goodbye Genocide Joe isn't enough. Here's another.

Genocide Joe might take a lesson from another Joseph.

Though it may be technically lawful (victor's justice), genocide is a violation of the Law of Karma. Fight this law and the law always wins. A reminder for emphasis. Another reminder. The concept of Karma is also stressed in Christianity, most notably in the "Bible," Galations 6:7, as you sow, so shall you reap. Unfortunately, apparent Christians such as Genocide Joe and his minions don't seem to think this affects them. Such is the mindset of impunity.

A Genocide Joe song. Here's another. And another. Where did you come from, where did you go, where did you come from, Genocide Joe?

Time has come today for Genocide Joe to resign from office and submit himself to the International Criminal Court at the Hague for criminal prosecution for aiding and abetting genocide.

We are in for the long haul. Genocide Joe and his 100% politicianness are but one small episode.

A group of veterans called Task Force Butler Institute is tracking hate groups nationwide, making dossiers of them which they send to attorneys general around the country. The organization is named after Smedley Butler, a former Marine General who exposed the Business Plot in 1933 - a plan to overthrow the government of president Franklin D. Roosevelt and install him as dictator. Butler also wrote (and delivered) the speech and book War is a Racket. Here's the full text. It is likely that antisemitic violence at both pro and anti-Israeli rallies is perpetrated by minions of these hate groups.

I don't like the use of the term "hate groups," but for communication purposes it is what people understand. These various groups may indeed be hateful, but their purpose of existence to themselves is to advance crackpot ideologies of the fascist kind - "white" supremacy, scapegoating of ethnic and religious minorities and other vulnerable populations, authoritarian rule, various forms of terrorism. I look at these people less as political theorists (which would require thought) and more as psychologically impaired.

The same goes for the various propagandists, demagogues, grandstanders and charlatans who practice their perfidy in the various capitols around the country, and in Washington, D.C. Politics is their platform of operation, but the essence of their being is psychological disease, often sociopathic. Whatever success they have can be attributed to the stupidity and gullibility of the masses. A sucker is born every minute.

Henry Kissinger, mass murderer, has died. Here's an appropriate obituary. This remembrance of his love affair with mainstream U.S. media explains much of what we are dealing with today. Rolling Stone offers this good riddance. The New York Times presents the mainstream view. Anthony Bourdain had an un-mainstream view

For me, the most telling fact of his life is that he escaped Nazi Germany. It is great to escape danger. I have done it many times, sometimes barely. The mass murder, destruction and degradation caused by the Third Reich was on an order that should be a warning in many ways, as we are seeing now. Survivors, escapees and succeeding generations of the Nazi Holocaust might be carrying built-up trauma, bitterness and desire for revenge. Woe are they who find themselves in the path of their rage.

Israel does not represent all Jews, as Jewish Voices For Peace shows.

We are becoming friendless. Ahh, but Genocide Joe, 100% politician, doesn't care, as long as his numbers are up. Except, his numbers aren't up. Fewer people, by the day, prefer him for reelection. It should tell him something that deranged criminal sociopath Donald Trump, likely suffering from dementia, leads him in "the polls."

The money we are wasting on "Israel" could be better spent (duh) providing housing for the millions among us who are shelter deficient.

Update, December 22: So a U.N. resolution passed, with Genocide Joe's ambassador abstaining. It was a "watered-down" version, avoiding a cease-fire. See Law of Karma reference above. One of the obstacles was the absence of a condemnation of the October 7 attack by Hamas. This is what is known as a red herring. Hamas is not a nation, or even a representative of a nation, since the Palestinians have no nation. U.N. stands for United Nations.

Economist Jeffrey Sachs says U.S. foreign policy is a scam built on corruption. You can see him interviewed on YouTube.

Andrew Cockburn warned us about Genocide Joe in 2019, 4 1/2 years before he became Genocide Joe. He has lived far down from the warnings.

Update, December 27: Genocide Joe, poseur as human rights hero and man of peace, will have a different legacy. Hint: He will be remembered as Genocide Joe.

Here's a history of the Jewish diaspora from Letters and Politics at KPFA. A history of Zionism and settler colonialism, part 1 and part 2. Here's a discussion of Israel, Hamas and the future of the Palestinian people. And, for a bit more context, an interview about the Biblical "Book of Revelations" and its real world consequences.

Here's an update on how to calculate how much of your money is being spent to kill Palestinians.

It would be helpful to understand the history of the Mideast, and how the State of Israel came to be. Ussama Makdisi, professor of history at UC Berkeley, was interviewed on KPFA's Letters and Politics in December, and provided a broad overview. The interview can also be seen on YouTube.

At least 95 people have been killed in a bomb blast in Kerman, Iran, during an observance of the fourth anniversary of the U.S. (Trump) assassination of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani. We can expect more of this. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been mongering for war with Iran for decades. Worthy of mention is that Israel is one of nine nuclear powers on Planet Earth. Netanyahu is supported by Genocide Joe. We are now in a more precarious and dangerous predicament on this planet than any time in human history, greater than during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Jan. 7 update: A former Israeli soldier explains the disastrous complexities of the situation in Gaza.
