While We Still Have Time

In spite of the grimness of the times in which we live, there is still hope. If you feel, like I do, that the usual discourse about matters of critical concern tends to be superficial, misguided, and false, then you might find some solace and inspiration here. I will try to offer insight and a holistic perspective on events and issues, and hopefully serve as a catalyst for raising the level of dialogue on this planet.

I was born in 1945, shortly before atom bombs were dropped on Japan. I served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. I earned master's degrees in Economics and Educational Psychology, and certificates in Web Page Design and as a Teacher of English as a Second Language. I followed an Indian guru for eight years, which immersed me in meditative practices and an attitude of reaching a higher level of being. A blog post listing the meditative practices I have pursued can be seen here.

Good Riddance Trump and Biden

I wasn’t expecting much from Thursday’s presidential debate, and tuned in late, not wanting to indulge in revulsion. The few minutes I did watch lived down to my expectations, and thensome to a surreal level of disgust. Trump performed in typical fashion, mixing invective with lies, bluster and overall foulness of being.

The surprise of the night, though, was how poorly Joe Biden functioned. He stammered, stumbled, misspoke, and seemed confused and disoriented. At one point he claimed he "beat Medicare," a nonsense declaration that had no relation to anything.

It was depressing, realizing these two deeply flawed men are the best the country can come up with to lead it. It shouldn’t have. They both have been a nauseating presence on the national scene for what seems like forever, though it has been less than a decade for Trump, and four years for Biden, not including his previous experience as senator and vice-president.

I slept on it, woke up refreshed and encouraged. Both Biden and Trump are unfit for the office they are seeking. We deserve better, and can start by treating them both as unfit to hold office. Trump is a megalomaniac and multi-criminal, convicted of 34 felonies, civil fraud and sexual assault, with more pending.  As such he is an unhuman, a being without any redeeming qualities, and certainly not a suitable candidate for the chief executive of the Federal government, Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, and the sole person with the authority to start a thermonuclear war. It is a cosmic joke that almost half the population of the U.S. sees him as some kind of Messiah, a gift from "God" to root out all evil.

Joe Biden is no better. He is the enabler, cheerleader, funder and weapons supplier of the ongoing genocide in Gaza. He is showing himself to be as bad as Trump when it comes to the way he treats asylum seekers and refugees from other countries. His abrupt departure from Afghanistan showed a total lack of concern for the lives of the people left behind. He is a phony, a pretender who doesn’t care about anyone except in regard to what political advantage he can gain from them, a 100% politician.

As of Thursday night, Biden is through. He revealed himself to be unfit for office – not just for the next four years, but now. He is feeble-minded, befuddled, and criminally responsible for the ongoing genocide in Gaza. He is Genocide Joe, and should resign or be removed from office immediately if not sooner.

Of course practically he will not be removed from office, but he can be forced to end his candidacy for reelection. Efforts have already begun. Step Aside Joe is one such effort. I’d like to start one that says Get the Fuck Out Joe, or maybe Don’t Let the Door Hit You in the Ass On the Way Out Joe, but it might be more effective and legal to keep it civil.

Beyond organizing to get Biden off the ballot, though, I am pretty upbeat about the coming election. We are at a breaking point. Too many things are converging at one time for me to believe that the future of the United States of America is hostage to these two dangerous criminals. The planet, in case no one is noticing, is in full rebellion against what we are doing to it. Governments everywhere ate teetering on collapse. The world economic order is being held together with baling wire, string and spit. Pressure is building daily, and the dam is about to burst. It won’t be easy when the proverbial shit hits the fan, but we likely won’t have the luxury of putting forward such mediocre human beings as Trump and Biden to lead us. Good riddance to both of them.

I wonder if Jay Inslee is free to serve in higher office. He is 73, not young, but still functioning pretty well. AOC would be a good choice. She will be 35 in October.

Another two. Green Day. Hit the road, Jack. Unfortunately for Genocide Joe, he can't save time in a bottle. It is fortunate for the rest of us.
